Hi Guys! This is my Italian mama’s homemade lasagna recipe. I have been making it for years and each time I do, people seem to love it! So here is the recipe … enjoy!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 package of lasagna noodles
- 1 large container of Cottage cheese
- 3 eggs
- 1 slab of Velvetta cheese
- 1 Cupesan Parmesan Cheese
- 2 Cups Mozzarella cheese
- 1 LB hamburger
- 1 large can of tomato sauce
- 1 jar of marinara sauce
- salt & pepper
- Italian seasoning
- parsley
- garlic powder
First, boil your noodles. Once they are done, drain and set aside. (Add a teaspoon of olive oil into the water when you are boiling so they don’t stick together!)
Second, cook your hamburger meat in a fry pan. Sprinkle in some garlic powder and and parsley. Once the meat is brown, drain out the grease. Then add 1 large can of tomato sauce and let simmer for a few minutes. Now you can turn off the heat and set aside.
Third, get out a 13×9 deep dish pan and line it with marinara sauce. I add about a 1/2 inch to the bottom.
Next, in a large bowl mix together your Cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese, eggs, and a sprinkle in salt & pepper and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.
Now the layering begins. Add one layer of noodles, then one layer your cheese mix, then one layer of your saucy meat. Repeat this until you run out of ingredients. On the very top, lay several slices of Velveeta cheese and then heavily drizzle some marinara sauce over that.
Cover lasagna with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let me know what you think if you decide to make it!
Yummy! We eat very little beef so I used half ground sirloin and ground turkey and added a little olive oil to add oil since the turkey can be dry. Also added a little ricotta cheese because we are cheese lovers and moist lasagna. It was great. I know your recipe is excellent since you come from an Italian bloodline so next time I’m going to try it your way. Thanks for the recipe and inspiration to make something and I never make. My family, especially my children and grandchildren felt full and loved as they snuggled in their beds for the night.
