HOW TO BREAK UP WITH YOUR PHONE by Catherine Price!
Let me first give you a disclaimer. Do not let your children read this book, at least if they are under the age of 13. I was letting my 6 year old read it out loud to me and forgot it has the phrase in it, “dick move.” Of course by the time I heard him say that, it was too late. His first question was, “What is a dick move?” Let me tell you how awkward answering that question was!
With that said, I give this book 10 stars and here is why. First, it is a much needed reminder of how phones are taking over our lives. Literally. Taking. Over. Our. Lives.
Secondly, it gives the reader real tools to use, so you can break the addiction.
For example, it suggests writing the message, “What do you pay attention to?” then taking a photo of it and setting it as the lock screen on your phone.
Or actually buying an alarm clock, so you are not tempted to keep your cell in your bedroom. I especially liked the idea of putting your phone on “airplane mode” after 8 p.m. at night.
Toward the end of the book, it suggests several apps you can use to make your life easier and again, make you less reliant on the phone. My favorite – the meditation app called Headspace. Which reminds me, I need to get off the screen and go meditate!
If you are feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by all that social media has to offer, pick up a good book. Instagram and Facebook can wait. And according to this author, they need to!
I enjoy watching you on TOA every day and always enjoy it Thank goodness the Doctors were wrong.
